PKR-2M is intended for demountable diagnostic of OLTC devices of all types (both resistor and reactor), as well as for non-demountable diagnostic, which enables to diagnose OLTCs with current-limiting resistors without removing contactor tank cover.

PKR-2M enables diagnostic of OLTC devices manufactured by: Huaming, MR, ABB, Hyundai Heavy Industries-Bulgaria.

Watch detailed video-reviews about PKR-2M OLTC-analyzer up above or on our YouTube. Watch videos and subscribe.

OLTC non-demountable check (DRM method) enables to conduct express diagnostic of the OLTCs with current-limiting resistors without opening the tank. Based on the results obtained in the DRM mode, there are two graphs built: resistance versus time and conductivity versus time.

For example, for OLTC types RS, RNOA, etc., the correctness of operation of the main and arcing contactor contacts, their condition (burned or not burned contact), current-limiting resistor integrity may be determined. For OLTCs of RNTA – 35/320 type and its analogues, in which the contactor and selector are changed for a fine control switching device, the main and arcing contacts, current-limiting resistor condition, as well as condition of surface of all fixed contacts of the circuit breaker, through which the moving contacts move, may be checked.

The application of non-demountable check mode based on the DRM method doesn’t require:

  • Opening of the tank or hatch of the fault-free/faulty OLTC and oil drain;
  • Additional money and labor costs for the OLTC diagnostic;
  • Connection of additional elements or knowledge of resistances of current-limiting resistors of the checked OLTC device, since all fine adjustments to a certain OLTC are conducted automatically in the instrument.

The switchover oscillography enables to detect the actuation delay, non-simultaneity of in phase actuation and bouncing during switchover.

All characteristics are taken:

PKR-2M is completed with a special transducer for circular diagram recording. Its interface with shafts of different drives is provided with a set of axes and bushings, which are installed without any tools by simply putting on the shaft protrusion.

All characteristics are taken:

No additional elements (for example, resistors) or knowledge of resistances of current-limiting resistors of the checked OLTC device are required to measure the parameters. All adjustments to a specific OLTC are performed automatically in the instrument.

Reactor OLTCs can be checked in a static mode with the help of PKR-2M device. The user rotates the drive shaft with the handle from the standard complete set in slow motion. And at this time the moments of contacts closing / opening are displayed on the display of the device in degrees and in values of voltage and current.

For the convenience of direct connection to the contacts of the OLTC, when the tank is opened with partial or complete oil drain, PKR-2M is equipped with special long probes.

Without contact probes connection to the OLTC can be done by using a cable with crocodile clamps. In this case, partial or complete oil drain should be carried out from the contactor tank, or OLTC should be completely removed from the transformer tank.

PKR-2M is equipped with a built-in battery that increases its mobility and ease of use. Autonomous power supply allows you to operate the device during the entire work day on a large territory of substation or workshop without recharging. Built-in battery saves you from the hassle with mains cable, mains network extension and grounding.

The instrument is equipped with a large sensor color graphic display that enables to represent information in graphical or tabular form. High brightness and contrast make it easier to process the graphs.

Measurement results might be stored in one of the ways: in the non-volatile memory of the instrument, on the external flash memory, or they may be transferred to the PC.

Moreover, the instrument may be controlled by instrument keyboard, sensor display, or PC. The last mentioned function allows you to record diagrams while sitting with a PC in a car, which is important and comfortable during the cold season.

    Electrotechnical Laboratory of the Yaroslavl Power Supply Distance of the Northern Energy Supply Directorate

    To date, the following devices are in operation in the electrotechnical laboratory of the Yaroslavl Power Supply Distance of the Northern Energy Supply Directorate: MIKO-2.3, MIKO-7, PKR-1 and PKV/M7.

    These devices are used in conducting a comprehensive survey of electrical equipment of substations, such as power and converter transformers, high-voltage circuit breakers, and disconnectors. During the tests, SKB EP devices gave a good account of their reliability, stability of operation, and ease of use. When using the above-mentioned devices, total measurement time was reduced.

    The use of PKR-1 OLTC analyzer made it possible to more accurately determine the defects of the power transformer and tap changing device during a comprehensive check-up. The most frequently diagnosed damages are burning and adjustment of the contactor contacts of the tap changing device. The second most common defect is the burning of circuit breaker contacts. One of these defects was confirmed by the visual inspection.

    The use of MIKO-2.3 and MIKO-7 devices that are dedicated to the resistance measurement in inductive circuits gave the greatest reduce of measurement time. When using an AC bridge, one resistance measurement of the 110 kV transformer winding lasted about 1.5 minutes. When using MIKO-2.3 or MIKO-7 devices, the time spent on one measurement was reduced to 30 seconds.

    PKV/M7 circuit breaker analyzer is used for a comprehensive assessment of the state of high-voltage circuit breakers. As the main direction was chosen the assessment of SF6 circuit breakers of MKP-110 type. There is a big survey conducted of SF6 circuit breakers installed instead of oil circuit breakers. The use of PKV/M7 circuit breaker analyzer has reduced the time spent on the diagnostics of circuit breakers, and increased the accuracy of the data obtained. Previously, the measurements of the moving parts movement and compression were controlled by a ruler with oil drained from the circuit breaker tank. PKV/M7 circuit breaker analyzer is, first of all, more comfortable to use and has better accuracy comparing to the previously used methods.

    Having experience in the operation of SKB EP devices since 2016, we can definitely recommend the use of these devices for diagnostics of energy facilities.

    Engineering Center EnergoRazvitie, LLC

    EnergoRazvitie Engineering Center, LLC reports that MIKO-9A, РКR-2М, MIKO-2.3, РКV/М7 instruments operated by our organization, manufactured and delivered by your enterprise, meet the requirements for them. The equipment and functionality of the devices are provided in accordance with the order.

    МIКО-2.3 instrument and high-voltage circuit breaker analyzer РКV/М7 are actively used by our organization in measuring the contact resistance of high-voltage circuit breakers. ln particular, gas-insulated core circuit breakers of the ELF type SP7-2 at 500 kV manufactured by АВВ. MIKO-2.3 is convenient to use due to its small size. The current generated by the device allows you to burn through the contact and get stable readings of contact resistance. The advantage of the device is also the combination of potential and current circuits in two terminals and taking into account the own resistance of the wires included in the kit. In general, MIKO-2.3 allows you to reduce the measurement time and get stable and reliable results. However, it is worth paying attention to the fast discharge of the battery when using а micro-ohmmeter, which determines the dependence of the instrument on the availability of the mains. Test leads for 500 kV circuit breakers must be of а minimum length of 10 meters with reliable and convenient clamps for connection, and this requires additional specification of the order.

    Circuit breaker analyzer РКV/М7 is simple and convenient to operate, it allows you to control the main characteristics of high-voltage switching devices. The positive thing is that in one measurement cycle the device allows you to measure several parameters, which significantly reduces the processing time and assess the technical condition of the circuit breaker. А small number of contact cables and the use of different instrument connectors make it possible to reduce the likelihood of personnel error when assembling the test circuit. РКV/М7 is а universal device that allows you to control the parameters of high-voltage circuit breakers, and can be safely recommended to organizations involved in the commissioning and operation of high-voltage equipment.

    МIКО-9А instrument is used to test power transformers and autotransformers. In particular, in May 2020, the device was successfully tested on the А ТDСТN-250000/220/11 О autotransformer. MIKO-9 А is equipped with а wide range of test cables (it is possible to measure three-phase circuit), which makes it possible to quickly perform а large number of measurements, reducing connection operations, with а minimum of specialists.

    The presence of а built-in high-capacity battery allows measurements in the field, regardless of the availability of the mains. The device is very convenient to use (the presence of automatic mode, an important demagnetization option for the transformer, а convenient and intuitive interface), is small and lightweight.

    РКR-2М instrument is used to check the technical condition of switching devices of transformers of all types, both resistor and reactor, using the collapsible method, as well as for diagnosing on-load tap-changers with current-limiting resistors without removing the contactor tank cap. The presence of а built-in battery increases its mobility and ease of use. Equipped with long probes (optional) and а cable with crocodile clamps, it makes it easy to connect to most on-load tap-changers.

    The use of these instruments allows our specialists to reduce the time of testing and measurement. These devices these devices are good to use, correspond to the declared characteristics and surpass in many aspects similar devices from other manufacturers.

The device is very convenient to use (the presence of automatic mode, an important demagnetization option for the transformer, a convenient and intuitive interface), is small and lightweight.

    The PKR-2M instrument is used to check the technical condition of switching devices of transformers of all types, both resistor and reactor, using the collapsible method, as well as for diagnosing on-load tap-changers with current-limiting resistors without removing the contactor tank cap. The presence of a built-in battery increases its mobility and ease of use. Equipped with long probes (optional) and a cable with crocodile clamps, it makes it easy to connect to most on-load tap-changers.

    The use of these instruments allows our specialists to reduce the time of testing and measurement. These devices these devices are good to use, correspond to the declared characteristics and surpass in many aspects similar devices from other manufacturers.
